Hi! I’m so glad you’re here!

My name is Cortney and I am the resident owner/photographer/baby whisperer here at Stella & Birdie Photography.

I was born and raised in Hillsborough, North Carolina, and I still call Hillsborough home today. I grew up surrounded by my giant, crazy family and for as long as I can remember, I have been taking photos. It started with an old 35mm Walmart camera, then I got really into polaroid cameras, and finally I landed on Nikon for while, then I found my sweet little mirrorless Sony and have been in love ever since. I have books and books filled of photos from family vacations, holidays, and basically anything I could get a camera on. And now I can honestly say that that passion turned into the most amazing job in the world! Capturing that first smile, the first time siblings meet, all of the sweet moments with your family that are once in a lifetime - I just love it. I will admit that I'm a mom first, and I have always photographed my 3 children (possibly a little obsessively according to them!). Finally in 2015 I bought a big girl camera and decided to start photographing professionally, and I have been happier ever since. I pride myself on being more than just a photographer. I’m not just here to photograph your baby or your wedding. I will snuggle your little one like they’re my own, make your older kids giggle and laugh, hold your hand on the most memorable days of your life, get down with your grandma on the dancefloor. and hopefully by the end of the day you’ll feel like you’ve been with an old friend hanging out instead of just having your photo taken.

I spend my down time playing with my kids, and trying to figure out ways to fit more farm animals onto our teeny tiny property (Did you hear about the time I let a Holstein bull calf live in my bathroom?) Also, I really love getting in late night Target trips alone and binge small business shopping.
